Babar Azam returns to domestic cricket with unbeaten 86 runs


Faheem Ashraf’s brilliant all-round performance and Babar Azam’s excellent batting have put a brake on Northern’s victories.

After an all-rounder’s 4 wickets, an unbeaten half-century, and Babar Azam’s unbeaten 86 helped Central Punjab beat Northern by 8 wickets. This is the first time that Northern, which tops the points table, has lost in the event.

In the match played at Pindi Cricket Stadium Rawalpindi, Central Punjab achieved the target of 166 runs in 17 overs at a loss of only 2 wickets. Earlier, Northern captain Imad Waseem won the toss and elected to bat first. Thanks to Fahim Ashraf’s devastating bowling, Northern’s first 4 wickets fell to just 52 runs, after which with the help of 87 runs partnership of Asif Ali and Shadab Khan, Northern scored 165 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the 20 overs.

Asif Ali scored 67 runs with 5 sixes and 4 fours while Shadab Khan scored 39 runs. Faheem Ashraf guided 4 players to the pavilion for 18 runs. He was awarded the man of the match.
