Supreme court issues notice to PM Imran Khan

The Supreme Court issued notice to the PM Imran Khan on attending the function of the wing of a particular political party. The Supreme Court expressed frustration over the non-appearance of Advocate General Punjab in the pending case.

Justice Qazi Faiz Issa remarked that the Advocate General sat in a political gathering at the Convention Center and did not appear in court. Does the Advocate General belong to the entire province or is he a representative of a political party?

The court said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan is the Prime Minister of the whole country. Prime Minister cannot associate himself with any party or group.

The court also issued notice to the PM Imran Khan for attending the function of the wing of a particular political party while a notice has also been issued to the Attorney General of Pakistan for assistance in the matter.

The court summoned the Vice Chairman Pakistan Bar Council, President SC Bar, and Advocate General Punjab. Justice Qazi Faiz Issa remarked that the matter is being referred to the Chief Justice of Pakistan for self notice. The court said that generally, the Prime Minister personally attended the program.

Justice Qazi Faiz Issa said that the Prime Minister got votes from all over the country. He is the Prime Minister of Pakistan and not of any party. How was the Government Building Convention Center used for the function of a political party? According to the Islamabad administration, was the fee paid at the convention center?
