National team head coach Misbah-ul-Haq formally announced his resignation as chief selector.
Misbah-ul-Haq held the post of chief selector and head coach of the national team, but he has now formally announced his resignation from the post of chief selector.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Misbah-ul-Haq said that various things were being said about his resignation but there was no truth in them. If the rumors were true then both the posts would have gone.
He explained that the reason for his resignation was not a meeting with PCB chairman Ehsan Mani or Prime Minister Imran Khan, but a personal decision.
He said that there are 10 commitments in the next 10 years so I am leaving this post, Pakistan Cricket Board had given me the option to leave one post if I want.
The head coach of the national team said that he will fulfill the responsibility of the chief selector till November 30 and will focus on the next coaching.
On the other hand, sources said that Misbah-ul-Haq was under pressure and was being criticized for holding two senior posts at the same time.
According to sources, Misbah-ul-Haq was also unhappy that those who were criticizing him were made part of the selection committee.
It may be recalled that Misbah-ul-Haq was made the head coach of the Pakistan cricket team last year and also the chief selector of the national team.
Pakistan Cricket Board chief executive Wasim Khan said it was a good decision because if the same person had responsibilities, they would be questioned for poor performance.
